    Legal Framework of the Program

 

 

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 15 December 2004 in Damascus, in order to develop the cooperation between the State Planning Organization of the Turkish Republic and the State Planning Commission of the Syrian Arab Republic, was approved by the Turkish Grand National Assembly on 26 January 2006.

The “Regulation concerning the Procedures and Principles about the Expenditures to be made from the Appropriation included in the Budget of the Undersecretariat for State Planning Organization within the framework of the Interregional Cooperation Program carried out between Turkey and Syria” has been prepared with the aim of regulating the procedures and principles related to the distribution and use of the appropriation placed in the budget of the State Planning Organization to support, within the framework of the priorities determined with the participation of both sides, the projects of special provincial administrations, municipalities, real and legal persons located in the provinces covered within the scope of the Interregional Cooperation Program carried out between Syria and Turkey.

The first meeting of the Joint Monitoring and Steering Committee for the Interregional Cooperation Program between the Republic of Turkey and the Syrian Arab Republic was held on 7 April 2005 in Gaziantep, under the joint leadership of Dr. Ahmet TIKTIK, the Undersecretary for State Planning organization of the Republic of Turkey and Mr. Abdallah DARDARI, the President of the State Planning Commission of the Syrian Arab Republic.
